16 City Gallery Members Celebrate Open Source 2022, a Visual Arts Festival
Have you been to City Gallery lately? If not, Artspace’s Open Source 2022 is the perfect chance to stop in and get to know the gallery’s exciting mix of visual artists. OPEN SOURCE @ CITY, on view from October 7 - October 30, will feature work by 16 member artists and includes an Opening Reception on Friday, October 7 from 4 - 6:30PM, as well as an Open Source Open House Weekend on Saturday, October 29 and Sunday, October 30, 12 - 5PM.
For nearly 20 years, City Gallery has served as a collective of innovative, contemporary artists from the New Haven area. It is a member-run gallery featuring a wide range of visual media: painting, sculpture, photography, papermaking, fiber art, printmaking, and mixed media. Current members include:

City Gallery’s exhibits rotate on a monthly schedule. In addition to shows of members’ work, the gallery occasionally hosts work by guest artists that helps to make New Haven a vibrant regional center for the arts, such as Karen Klugman’s Upper State Street 1978: At the Height of Its Decline, and the group show Legacy & Rupture, Forbidden Memory curated by Howard el-Yasin.
In an effort to showcase the diversity and talent of the local arts community, City Gallery has recently created a scholarship program. This programs provides full gallery membership for two years to emerging artists who may not have the resources to become a part of a collective, member-run gallery.
All members of City Gallery are carefully selected for their accomplishments as artists, their ability to commit to maintaining a successful member-run gallery, and their fit with the group. All of the artists have distinguished resumes and have exhibited widely, and many also teach in the New Haven artistic community.
Open Source 2022 Festival (formerly City-Wide Open Studios) is New Haven-based Artspace’s annual visual arts showcase, happening on October 21 through October 30. This expanded virtual and in-person showcase features painters, sculptors, filmmakers, and photographers from New Haven and across the State of Connecticut. OPEN SOURCE @ CITY is free and open to the public, and runs October 7 - October 30, 2022.
