“Wounded Healers”: CVI Worker Wellness Takes Center Stage

LISC, with support from the Department of Justice, has been investing intensively in the work and wellbeing of frontline community violence intervention (CVI) workers. A new report on CVI practitioner trauma and strategies for their wellbeing, and a panel at a recent CVI conference, hammer home the urgency of informed, well-resourced support for these critical community servants.

LISC Receives $2M Grant from The DICK’S Sporting Goods Foundation to Renovate Sports Spaces for Youth in Under-Resourced Communities

With a new $2 million grant from The DICK’S Sporting Goods Foundation, LISC opens a second application round for Game On-Community Places to Play, an initiative that funds the renovation of indoor and outdoor athletic spaces for young athletes, particularly in under-resourced communities. The deadline to apply for a grant is September 5, 2024.

The Farm Bill’s Potential for Supporting Rural People and Places

The Farm Bill presents an opportunity to provide rural communities and people the resources they need to flourish. LISC’s Mark Kudlowitz and Nicole Barcliff examine where things stand in Congress and how the legislation can support the needs of families while also revitalizing communities that have long experienced capacity constraints that hinder community and economic development opportunities.
