Posted on August 22, 2017 at 3:20pm 1 Comment

Hi all,

I know this topic comes up frequently, but IRIS is looking to change/upgrade its donor database, and is wondering what other groups' experiences have been.  We currently have Giftworks, and one option would be to upgrade to their new cloud edition, but we also want to explore other systems.

If you are willing to share (via phone, in person, or email, whatever you prefer) about what system you use and what your experience has been like, can you let me know?…

Neighborhoods: What is Working

Leadership Is a Process of Community

Martin Luther King, Jr. did not march for freedom and equality alone. He was the visionary voice for the collective effort of hundreds of thousands of people. When we deconstruct leadership, we will not find a hero at the heart of leadership. We will find community.

What to Do When the Door to the Status Quo Opens Slightly

There are times when you manage to open the door ever so slightly to the status quo -- organizations and institutions that have power and resources to back up their perspective and mandate. To make inroads you must walk through that door and engage with the very people you think are the cause of the problem.

Freeing Yourself from the Consumer Culture

Peter talks with Eric Zimmer, host and producer of The One You Feed, named one of the Best Health Podcasts of All Time by The Huffington Post. They discuss the four pillars of the free market ideology, our longing for perfection, how questions bring us together and answers alienate us . . . and much more.

Open Streets Project Revamped

The Open Streets Project has undergone some changes over the last year. We bid a sad farewell to project co-founder, the Alliance for Biking & Walking, who are moving on to other things, and we happily welcomed a new partner, international Open Streets leader 8 80 Cities. We are excited for all the possibilities and energy this partnership will bring.

Local Initiatives Support Corporation

One Day of Service Among 8,395 (that’s 23 years)—and Counting

The day we memorialize Dr. Martin Luther King Jr’s legacy is special indeed—and so are the other 364 days a year when LISC AmeriCorps members serve their communities, as they have for the past two plus decades.

Props for Duluth’s Innovating Economy

Twin Cities Business magazine takes an in-depth look at Duluth, MN’s push to diversify and energize its commercial and civic life. Investments, including LISC’s, in infrastructure and workforce and business development are having a broadly felt impact in areas ranging from manufacturing to aviation to the arts.

Is Equitable Development Possible? Cincinnati Says ‘Yes!’ But It Takes Work.

Two articles about development in the Walnut Hills neighborhood of Cincinnati show the pitfalls and inspiring potential facing a community dedicated to reviving its economy to benefit all residents. But it takes concerted planning and sustained local involvement. For example, LISC and many of our longtime partners are working to bring about the new mixed-use Paramount Square project there, which will encompass housing, commercial space and Esoteric Brewing, the region’s first African American-founded brewery.
