ONEWORLD'S EDUCATION AGENDA: Pittsburgh Public Schools May Lose $40 Million Grant From Gates Foundation If All Parties to Grant Agreement DO NOT LIVE Up to the Conditions of Agreement!
Imagine the cost to students in this school district if the “adults” in this alleged partnership cannot live up to their agreement under which this grant was made! The Gates Foundation should be applauded for its monetary commitment, and for holding the parties accountable.
“Under the Gates Foundation’s Intensive Partnership for Effective Teaching initiative, the union and the district were to develop criteria to evaluate teacher performance, with the goal of rewarding superior educators and retraining those who fell short. The district and the union, however, have been at odds for months over the criteria, and according to sources close to the talks, the foundation has said it will no longer fund the grant without a formal agreement between the two parties.” Read all about it in the article linked here:

More of this type of accountability should be practiced by every organization that provides funding for such programs and activities. We hope that other unions and their partners across the country are paying attention. The entire academic, psychological and socio-economic future of students should not be held hostage to the inability of 'supposedly' informed adults to reach reasonable and sensible compromise. The fact that this significant grant and the future of thousands of students would be placed in jeopardy by adults is simply incomprehensible. There needs to be a uniform community standard.
Pittsburgh Federation of Teachers: http://pft400.com/ Identifies as – "A union of professionals helping our children to learn, grow and succeed in the Pittsburgh Public Schools.”
