      Eric,

Welcome to GNH Community, glad to have you join. You are now able to post information that you think will be of interest to other nonprofits, civic organizations, the people they serve or the general public. You may post calendared events on the events page, non-date specific information on the blog, pictures or video.

Check out the groups created by other members; this is a great place to meet people that share your interest and to ask specific questions. You may request to join as many groups as you wish or start a new group. The creator of a group sets the parameters for membership. If you have a question about a group, please write to the owner (the person who initiated the group). If you start a group you can make it open to anyone or limit membership.

If you have questions or suggestions as to how we can make GNH Community more useful for you please let me know.

GNH Community is funded by The Community Foundation for Greater New Haven.

    Description Interest

With rising energy costs and limited disposable income, it has become critically important for home buyers, homeowners and tenants to avoid unnecessary expenses. The Lab serves as a hands-on training facility for residents to learn useful skills to maintain their homes and conserve energy. The Lab also incorporates an “Identifying Home Health Hazards” component into each of our classes. The Health Hazards program is designed to address the myriad of preventable health risks that are present in the home. In addition to offering hands-on classes in home repairs and energy conservation, the Lab serves as a green demonstration model. The building utilizes existing urban infrastructure and salvaged, reused, or repurposed materials from NHS rehabbed properties. It has been constructed as an energy-efficient structure, and the building is now LEED platinum certified. Energy conservation techniques are taught to our clients through the demonstration exhibits.
