Adopt A Sharrow
Adopt A Sharrow is designed to crowdsource both the planning of and funding for infrastructure projects related to bike sharrows and bike lanes to provide the community involvement and matching funds needed by the City of New Haven to get federal transportation grants.

How has the City Department of Parking, Traffic and Transportation responded to this idea? Do they think this will help their effort to secure funding from outside of New Haven?

In my initital conversation with Jim Travers the Director of the New Haven Department of Transportation, he seemed very excited about the concept and we will be sitting down again soon in a more formal capacity to look at the project and how this can help New Haven's applications for biking infrastructure on both the state and federal levels. Additionally, Jim mentioned that having widespread community support for projects would increase the likelihood of being awarded grants that provided New Haven with sharrows, bike lanes, cycle tracks and other biking infrastructure, because one of the things they look for is proof of community support. Adopt A Sharrow makes that support very clear.
