While visiting the US in the late 19th Century, Dvorak was struck by Native American and African American folk songs; this music inspired his “New World” Symphony, now one of the most internationally beloved orchestral works. Program highlights on this concert also include Schubert’s “Unfinished” Symphony and Bruch’s Violin Concerto, performed by the NHSO’s incomparable concertmaster, Ani Kavafian.
