The City of New Haven and community partners have
applied to be a federal Promise Zone, a designation given
by the White House to help cities revitalize themselves. 50
organizations signed on to a memorandum of understanding
committing to work together on comprehensive, long-‐term
solutions. Mayor Toni Harp is committed to using the
Promise Zone application process to begin developing
a clear, comprehensive plan to expand economic
opportunity for residents, ensure that our children get an
excellent education, and create safe, healthy and vibrant
neighborhoods where people choose to live.
The Mayor believes that success will be achieved by working together with community leaders and key organizations
toward a common set of goals. The plan will build on the
many initiatives already underway in our city and
neighborhoods.
