The 2011 Reverend Howard Nash Community Leadership Award Breakfast which will be held on Thursday, May 5^th, from 8:00 to 9:30 AM at the New Haven Lawn Club. This annual breakfast gives recognition to an individual whose efforts promote social justice in greater New Haven.

This year’s Community Leadership Award recipient is Bishop Peter Rosazza D.D.  Bishop Rosazza is being recognized for his ongoing work to facilitate communication amongst various groups and organizations in New Haven and surrounding communities to foster social justice and to bring greater understanding and respect of each other’s beliefs, challenges and concerns.  Bishop Rosazza was the best friend of Father Howard Nash and joined him, as well as other community leaders such as Rabbi Brockman and Reverend Grubbs, in several neighborhood initiatives such as boycotting K-Mart for selling guns and organizing neighborhood greeting committees for new scatter-site housing residents in Morris Cove.  He has also been a tireless advocate for the Spanish-speaking immigrant community. This is the New Haven community’s opportunity to honor the work of Bishop Rosazza prior to his relocation to Bloomfield.
