* * * Collaboration Request for 50th Anniversary of Dr. MLK Jr.'s "I Have A Dream" Speech on 8.28.13! * * *
Dear Greater New Haven Community Team:
Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. said, “Lightning makes no sound until it strikes.”
In inspiration of the 50th Anniversary of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.’s I HAVE A DREAM speech on August 28th 1963, we are calling upon YOU – Dreamers, movers and shakers of New Haven – to join us in sparking a movement of Dreamers that starts right here on the New Haven Green on August 28th, 2013 at 3pm, exactly 50 years after Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.’s “I Have A Dream” speech – which also happens to be the first day of New Haven Public Schools! Our goal is to mobilize 1,000 people – young and old – to attend and declare their dreams on the New Haven Green that day!
We recognize the GNH Community as representing a community of Dreamers in New Haven – those who are taking action on their own dreams everyday and inspiring others to do the same – and we would love for you to partner with us for this event in order to inspire a new generation of young Dreamers in New Haven!!
Some potential ways we can collaborate could include: 1.) your organization launching your own dream for New Haven in an interactive and engaging way for young people and the entire community on this day, 2.) recruiting more Dreamers and community members to join us, or 3.) helping promote the event through your networks, or 4.) anything else you can dream up! How would you most creatively imagine bringing yourself and your organization to this experience? This is truly a chance for all of us to come together from all walks of life to commemorate MLK’s legacy and launch the first-ever international community of Dreamers in America’s first Dream City, New Haven, CT. Together, we have the chance to make this day truly unforgettable – and historical – and as a community of Dreamers in New Haven, we ask you to be a part of it.
On behalf of The Future Project in New Haven, we’d love to set up a brief meeting with you in person or over the phone to discuss how we can join forces to do the impossible and create something truly inspirational and magical on this day.
