Green Planet Company: Developing Sustainable and Affordable Housing for a Better Tomorrow

Green Planet Company is a registered 501(c)3 non-profit organization dedicated to creating quality, sustainable, and affordable housing. Our innovative projects and commitment to environmental stewardship not only help address the affordable housing crisis but also contribute positively to the local economy and the planet. A prime example of our work is the Great Hill Cottage Community, a two-phase development project in Guilford that showcases our dedication to sustainability and eco-friendly living.

Our Mission

Green Planet Company stands at the forefront of a nationwide movement to address the affordable housing crisis while celebrating our commitment to the environment. Our focus is not only on creating quality, sustainable, and affordable housing but also on contributing positively to local economies and the planet as a whole.

What Makes Us Unique?

Our approach to housing goes beyond the bricks and mortar; it's about building communities and nurturing them with eco-friendly living practices. Our commitment to innovation and sustainability is exemplified through the use of SIPs (Structural Insulated Panels) in our development projects.

These panels, made of two sheets of OSB (Oriented Strand Board) enveloping a slab of styrofoam, are manufactured off-site and then assembled on-site, providing a nearly airtight insulation. Unlike traditional building methods, SIPs ensure top-tier energy efficiency, aligning perfectly with our ethos of environmental stewardship. This unique construction technology sets us apart from the competition, as it not only supports our mission of affordable housing but also represents a forward-thinking approach to energy-conscious living.

A prime example of our dedication to sustainability is the Great Hill Cottage Community in Guilford, a two-phase development project that stands as a testament to our values. Learn more about this project and the technologies we use at https://greenplanetco.org/great-hill.

How the Federal Reserve and LISC are Supporting Families with Heirs' Property

Natavia lives in the 800 square-foot family house her grandmother bought on the east side of Jacksonville, Florida almost 80 years ago. Natavia is the third generation to call the property home. “I value the house for the memories,” she said. “I grew up spending the summers with my grandma, hearing the stories of her walking to work way on the other side of town, just to have a home.”

It was a year of new leadership, new vision and renewed commitment. We invested an extraordinary $2.4 billion and doubled down on our work to create affordable housing, catalyze financial opportunity and promote climate resiliency. And so much more.
