Development and Community Engagement Associate (Part-Time)

 

Who we are

 

Youth Continuum is a 501(c) (3) nonprofit serving youth, ages 14-24, who are experiencing homelessness in New Haven. We provide a continuum of care that includes a safe bed, transitional housing, community-based services, and a path to independence. Our core programs are street outreach, crisis housing, rapid rehousing, permanent supportive housing, group homes, independent apartments, case management, victim services, counseling, employment support, and education support. We serve 1,000 – 1,500 young people each year.

 

The position

 

Are you passionate about fundraising, community engagement and donor relations? Are you an experienced, hands-on, and creative development professional looking for a new challenge and to make a difference in the lives of homeless youth? If so, we want to meet you.

 

We are seeking an individual who will lead our development and community engagement efforts on a part-time basis.  This position will be responsible for actively seeking out opportunities for cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship of both current and potential donors, as well as securing funding for new initiatives. The Development and Community Engagement Associate will also work to increase the organization’s visibility and impact through clear, effective communications.

 

This individual will report directly to the Chief Executive Officer of Youth Continuum and work directly with the Chief Development Officer of Clifford Beers Community Health Partners. Youth Continuum became a subsidiary affiliate of Clifford Beers in July 2021.

 

What you’ll do

 

  • Actively work with the Chief Development Officer to effectively strengthen the overall fundraising capacity of Youth Continuum.
  • Identify and pursue a diverse stream of funding opportunities, with an emphasis on personal engagement.
  • Design and manage at least 2 written appeal campaigns, manage all online giving programs, and collaborate on capital fundraising.
  • Develop and implement a stewardship program aimed at cultivating deeper ties with donors, foundations, corporations, and other stakeholders.
  • Work collaboratively with marketing and communications team members to oversee and engage in outreach initiatives for the purposes of communicating with donors, prospective donors, and stakeholders
  • Work collaboratively with grants team members to assist in the development and execution of proposals
  • Assist with planning and executing fundraising events.
  • Track progress on revenue goals, identifying areas of opportunity and for course correction.
  • Represent Youth Continuum at community meetings, as needed
  • Other duties, as assigned

 

Ideal Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Experience with nonprofit development
  • Excellent interpersonal and community skills, both written and verbal, and the ability to present information clearly
  • Highly organized and efficient
  • Experience and comfort level working with senior staff and board members
  • Demonstrated ability to respond quickly and flexibly in a fast-paced and rapidly changing environment
  • High energy and “can do” attitude

 

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree required
  • Strong passion for Youth Continuum’s mission
  • Demonstrated ability to generate philanthropic support
  • 4+ years of experience in development
  • 2+ years of experience in community engagement
  • Three professional references

 

Compensation and Terms

Compensation is commensurate with experience. The position is exempt and reports to the Chief Development Officer of Clifford Beers Community Health Partners. The work arrangement is flexible, so that the hours of service and the possibility of a remote workstation will be considered. Paid time off will be awarded on a prorated basis.
