Yetta,

Welcome to GNH Community, glad to have you join us. Members may post information that they think will be of interest to nonprofits, civic organizations, the people they serve or the general public. You may post calendared events on the events page, non-date specific information on the blog, pictures or video.

Your opportunities to connect with other members greatly increases if you include a photo or logo on your profile, include your job title and\or if you "like" or comment on the post of other members. Events are also noticed more often if you include a picture or logo as a part of the posting.

Check out the groups created by other members; this is a great place to meet people that share your interest and to ask questions. You may request to join as many groups as you wish or start a new group. The creator of a group sets the parameters for membership. If you have a question about a group, please write to the owner (the person who initiated the group).

If you have questions or suggestions as to how we can make GNH Community more useful please let me know.

GNH Community is funded by The Community Foundation for Greater New Haven.

Seize the Opportunity of Crisis to Rebuild Community

Out of crisis, the residents of Christchurch, New Zealand discovered what is most important—community. Around the globe, multiple crises confront us. The upside is that we now have unprecedented opportunities to rebuild community.

The Affinity Dilemma

If the heart of our social problems is “like-mindedness,” the nature of associational affinity is one cause of the problem. Local examples/possibilities of “different mindedness” may be the way serious citizen dialogue can develop in relatively homogeneous places.

Local Initiatives Support Corporation

Our Strength Comes From Our Diversity

This month, as our country celebrates LGBTQ pride, we at LISC reaffirm our commitment to supporting inclusive and equitable communities.

LISC Is Part of the Sustainability Story on Wall Street

An article in ImpactAlpha features Morgan Stanley’s chief sustainability officer and LISC board member Audrey Choi describing the “tremendous growth opportunities” in social impact investment. LISC’s recent first-of-its-kind bond offering, underwritten by Morgan Stanley, is a prime example of how benefit to the community can benefit business, too.

A Boot Camp for Non-Profits Combating Homelessness Across California

As California's homelessness and affordable housing crisis deepens, the demand for non-profit developers who can navigate the complex world of affordable housing construction is more acute than ever.
