One never would expect their suburban New England Community to be a mission trip location but Wallingford CT was in 2018. The fundraising and identification of eligible clients that would need basic home repair began in 2017 with a range of media. Community media help to make it personal and help make the story shareable on social media platforms. This 2018 documentary exemplifies mission work as community work.

Where Do Workers Living on Low Incomes Stand in the Post-Pandemic Economy?
An article in Politico looks at the gains and losses—actual and potential—for lower-wage workers in the current economic climate. LISC and Enterprise Community Partners have released a joint white paper that catalogs how CDFIs have engaged with the capital markets in recent years. In an accompanying blog, the authors explain why this data is so critical, as economic pressure affects the availability and cost of capital for high-impact community development efforts. Foot Locker Foundation continues its collaboration with LISC to promote youth empowerment through mentoring, career development, and health and wellness activities—all while supporting community-based organizations with diverse leadership. A new $4.5 million commitment will support three annual grant application rounds. Proposals for the first round are due by August 30, 2023.
