Description Interest
D.E.S.T.I.N.E.D. to Succeed (D2S), Inc. is a 501 (c)(3) youth and family empowerment organization serving the Greater New Haven community since 2012. The mission of the organization is to enrich the lives of young people and families through affordable, creative, quality program opportunities. We prioritize serving low to moderate income persons, as this population most frequently faces barriers to education, employment and leadership advancement.

Our philosophy is that young people in Grades 7-12 and families are D.E.S.T.I.N.E.D. to succeed. We use the acronym to emphasize our vision, Desiring Every Student to Increase Necessary Educational Development.

Through our four Pillars of Excellence: Career Exploration, College Preparation, Leadership Development, and Life Skills, we provide a lens by which participants are addressing their ability to achieve lifelong, self-defined success.

First-of-Its-Kind Affordable Maryland Housing Community Will Promote Efficient Energy and Uplift Local History

Fairmount Heights Townhomes in Prince George’s County, MD, with help from a $1.8 million LISC construction loan, will develop six net-zero homes to be sold to low-income residents in addition to a community-serving pocket park, serving as a model for other energy efficient communities across the country.

Op-ed: Congress Can Help Make Housing Affordable — It Just Has to Act

The country needs a renewed commitment to affordable housing production programs, including expansion of the Low Income Housing Tax Credit and enactment of the Neighborhood Homes Investment Act, argue LISC board chair Robert E. Rubin and former U.S. senator Rob Portman in a joint op-ed in The Hill. "Fixing the chronic shortage of affordable and available housing for low-income renters and first-time homebuyers requires immediate intervention and long-term commitment,” they stress.

Kevin Hart’s Gran Coramino Tequila Teams Up with LISC for New Round of Grants to Fuel Growth for Black and Latinx Entrepreneurs

Being a successful entrepreneur is hard if you can’t dream big. That’s why LISC, Gran Coramino and Kevin Hart are teaming up again to offer $10,000 grants to help fuel small business growth for Black and Latinx entrepreneurs who face systemic obstacles to accessing capital.
