Matt,

Welcome to GNH Community, glad to have you join us. Members may post information that they think will be of interest to nonprofits, civic organizations, the people they serve or the general public. You may post calendared events on the events page, non-date specific information on the blog, pictures or video. For profit business members may not advertise products or services.

Your chances of connecting with other members greatly increases if you include a photo or logo on your profile, if you include your job title and\or if you "like" or comment on the post of members. Events are also noticed more often if you include a picture or logo.

Check out the groups created by other members; this is a great place to meet people that share your interest and to ask questions. You may request to join as many groups as you wish or start a new group. The creator of a group sets the parameters for membership. If you have a question about a group, please write to the owner (the person who initiated the group).

If you have questions or suggestions as to how we can make GNH Community more useful please let me know.

GNH Community is funded by The Community Foundation for Greater New Haven.

An Affordable Housing Development with Sustainable Features is Coming to Long Beach, California with Help from LISC

Multifamily housing offers an affordable option for low-income families in the coastal city as inventory shortages and high costs start to mirror the competitive market in the nearby city of Los Angeles. A $4.34 million acquisition and predevelopment loan from LISC is allowing the construction of 1401 Long Beach Blvd. to move forward and provide a range of apartments for families earning 30% AMI to 60% AMI.

To Safeguard Homes in California, Promote Affordability Through the Foreclosure Intervention Housing Preservation Program

California’s recently formed Foreclosure Intervention Housing Preservation Program (FIHPP) is poised to fund nonprofit housing groups to buy rental properties in or at risk of foreclosure and quickly convert them to long-term affordable housing. Now, FIHPP is hanging in the legislative balance. LISC’s Tahirih Zigler and Enterprise Community Partners’ Jacqueline Waggoner weigh in on the imperative of safeguarding the program to help spare many Californians from the preventable tragedies of displacement and homelessness.

Jorge Cruz Returns to LISC Greater Newark as Executive Director

LISC has named Jorge Cruz as executive director of LISC Greater Newark, a decades-long community investment program that has delivered more than $169 million to New Jersey neighborhoods, businesses and community organizations to support economic opportunity and growth.
