Pushed
In 2006, James Hillhouse High School graduated approximately 197 of the originally enrolled 479 students; and Wilbur Cross High School graduated 263 of the originally enrolled 555 students leaving a staggering 571 non-graduates from the two largest High Schools in New Haven.
The Documentary Pushed asks the questions, where are these students? How are they accounted for? Who is counting the number of graduates and dropouts?
The document is shot through the eyes of students, parents, legislators and legal personnel and explores the issue of students affected by standardized testing and ‘No Child Left Behind’ policy who are forced to abandon mainstream schools and are pushed into alternative schools that lack the necessary resources for them to graduate.
