Effective Communication Tools for Conflict Management is a one-day introduction to the process of Nonviolent Communication.

Through the use of lecture, video, role-plays, and hands-on exercises, participants in this workshop will learn the simple four-part process of Nonviolent Communication℠ (NVC) and be able to start using it to manage the conflict in their lives.  Combined with the science of conflict management and communication, this workshop aims to give you the skills you need to make conflict a creative spark for change.

This program has been approved for 6.5 Continuing Education Credit Hours by the National Association of Social Workers, CT and meets the continuing education criteria for CT Social Work Licensure renewal.

Joe Brummer is an experienced trainer and mediator and the Associate Executive Director of Community Mediation, Inc. Joe has presented workshops in Connecticut, Rhode Island, Vermont, and Pennsylvania. He has presented at Southern Connecticut State University, the University of New Haven, Quinnipiac University, Brown University and a number of national health education conferences. He has clocked hundreds of hours at the mediation table facilitating in a wide variety of areas including workplace disputes, landlord/tenant conflicts, neighborhood disputes, civil law suits, and victim offender mediation. He also serves on the Board for the National Association for Community Mediation as the Chair of the Membership Committee.  Joe was trained as a mediator at the Community Mediation Center of RI and served on their Juvenile Restorative Justice Advisory Board.  He was trained at the Institute for the Study and Practice of Nonviolence where he worked with at-risk youth to teach nonviolence and peace-making.   Joe has become well respected for sharing his experiences with Nonviolent Communication.
