Event Description

Slow Food Shoreline and the Connecticut-Westchester Mycological Association are joining together for a Wild Spring Edibles Walk at William E. Wolfe Park in Monroe. On this four hour walk, participants will learn to identify common wild edible plants and mushrooms of mid-spring. In the morning, we'll be hunting for prized spring mushrooms such as Oysters, Chicken-of-the-Woods, Enokis, Wine-Cap Stropharias, and Morels. At noon, we'll take a break to sample some of the wild foods collected by our guide throughout April. After lunch, we'll focus on the wild edible plants available throughout the park. Participants will leave with a greater appreciation of the delicious and nutrient-rich flora growing all over the region this time of year.

This event is open to both Slow Food members and non-members, 15 years of age and older. Since this is a free event and space is limited, please register for this event only if you are certain that you will be able to attend. If your plans change, please email us at slowfoodshoreline@gmail.com to cancel so someone else has the chance to join us. We will also send a final confirmation request by email during the week before the event.

This event is unfortunately full.  Please visit the ticket site to have your name placed on the waiting list.
