Jeanne White-Ginder will be the guest speaker at The Legacy of Ryan White event on Thursday, November 19th at Gateway Community College. Ginder is the mother of Ryan Wayne White, who became the national poster child of HIV/Aids at a time when very little was known about the disease. Thirteen year old Ryan, a hemophiliac was diagnosed with AIDS on December 17th, 1984 after contracting the disease from a contaminated blood treatment. Jeanne White Ginder will share her and her son’s experience living with AIDS and the discrimination that they experienced from community while fighting to keep Ryan in school. It is the mission of Gateway Community College and the Unified Pride Alliance club to educate all people about HIV/AIDS. The November 19th event will be held at Gateway Community College at 7pm, doors will open at 6pm. The event is free and open to the public.
