Event Description
On Wednesday, August 1st, the New Haven Leon Sister City Project and NHCM will be holding an event Earth Overshoot Day: Climate Emergency – Community Response on the lower New Haven Green by the flag pole. The event will include a 12 noon press event (Mayor Harp and community leaders speaking) and will call for urgent action on the Climate Emergency and celebrate new projects that respond to the need to cut greenhouse gas emissions.
On the Green from 11am to 5pm there will be a large Earth circle made up of Planetary Boundaries banners, Climate Emergency banners, along with art and tables announcing the new projects: Climate Health Education Project website, the Elm Energy Efficiency Project, Live! CarFree Campaign, and the Living Yard Project (calling for moving lawns to healthy habitats). New Haven Climate Movement will also have information available on the climate emergency.
