Event Description
Join The Community Foundation for Greater New Haven and staff from the Fiscal Policy Center at Connecticut Voices for Children for a presentation and discussion of the recently-passed FY 2014-2015 biennial budget. Among other things, the presentation will cover the following:
- What's in the budget? Key provisions of the budget as passed into law.
- How did it end up there? The process - from the Governor's proposal to the final public act.
- Where have we been, and where are we headed? Discussion of long-term budget trends that shaped this year's debate.
How does it affect Greater New Haven? Municipal aid, education policy, and local trends in poverty, health coverage, and employment.

Dr. Kathryn Bocanegra and Dr. Shani Buggs, eminent researchers and experts on the work of community violence intervention, have published, together with LISC, Supporting the Frontline Through Community Healing: Advancing Science on Violence Intervention Outreach and Trauma Exposure. The residents of two Washington State mobile home communities recently succeeded in purchasing their parks with help from ROC USA and over $2 million in financing from Rural LISC. As a result, they have been able to stabilize their housing costs, upgrade their communities and remain in the places they love.
