Elm City Dance Collective presents the premiere of
ALMOST PORCELAIN on May 9-11, The Off Broadway Theater at Yale University
An evening-length dance work inspired by concepts of self-perception, beauty, and identity with collaborations in visual design, film and sound.
Almost Porcelain is directed and choreographed by Kellie Ann Lynch in collaboration with the dancers. This newest work from ECDC also features collaborations with visual designer Jennifer Brubacher, musician and composer Noah Ratzan, and film artist Melissa Kane. The May 9th and 10th performances will take place at 8PM with the final performance on May 11th at 2PM.
Featuring a cast of nine dancers, Almost Porcelain was originally inspired by the choreographer's personal struggle with self-perception, beauty, and identity. Kellie Lynch describes her newest work as "a collage of physical explorations stimulated by such concepts as distortion, avoidance, intimacy and the human desire to be seen." Almost Porcelain captures an unfolding of experiences and memories embodied by the dancers - Jennifer Brubacher, Chloe Carlson, Nikki Carrara Nicole Cerutti, Kellie Lynch, Luis Rodriguez, Kate Seethaler, Millie VandenBroek, and Alicia White. The choreography comprises what Lynch characterizes as "a collective attempt to process how we see ourselves and how we see each other".
Tickets for Almost Porcelain are $30 General Admission and go on sale March 1st at www.elmcitydance.org. Day-of-show tickets can be purchased at the box office while supplies last. The box office will open one hour before each show.
