This year’s theme is: Taking it to the Next Level: Elevate Your Game from Good to Great. The expo takes place in person on Wednesday, November 15th from 7am to 4:30pm at the Omni New Haven Hotel at Yale located at 155 Temple Street, New Haven, CT 06510. The expo is free and open to the public.

Businesses will showcase their products and services in person to hundreds of leading executives and business professionals from all over the state. Attendees will learn more about how to elevate their strategies for business success as they hear from visionaries, leaders, and experts. New this year is the Big Connect’s first ever Career Elevation Room, a dedicated space that will feature resume reviews, career counseling, and professional headshots. The exhibitor floor will provide attendees with the opportunity to engage with a diverse range of businesses and experience new technologies, products, and solutions to advance their business and career. In the morning, the 7th Annual Nonprofit Stars Align Awards Breakfast will celebrate the success of the nonprofit community. A variety of workshops and panel discussions will take place throughout the day, delving into topics such as artificial intelligence, clean energy upgrades, branding and marketing, starting and growing your business, and more. The event focuses on topics and strategies that matter to business professionals and to businesses that are looking for new ways to leverage their connections and resources. A Women’s Power Panel will cover the topic, “Unleashing Your Superpower for Business Success,” moderated by WTNH Co-Anchor, Laura Hutchinson. For the first time ever, the expo will feature a small business support panel delivered in the Spanish language.

The 15th Annual Big Taste will feature menu specialties from over 15 restaurants and caterers from the Greater New Haven region. The Big Taste is $20 per person and pre-registration is required.

Living Resiliently: In the Wake of Hurricane Helene, LISC’s Sam Ruark Reflects

LISC’s new director of green initiatives is helping lead a groundbreaking effort to decarbonize the nation’s affordable housing and help low-income communities build resiliency in the face of the harmful impacts of climate change. Here, after personally weathering Hurricane Helene in the intentional “ecovillage” where he lives in North Carolina, Ruark paints a picture of what’s at stake, and how the planet and people can heal together.

Tiffany Durr Named President of LISC Fund Management

Durr has served as interim president of LFM since May and in that time has ushered in a series of new investors and project closings. "She understands how to connect with investors on questions of risk, return and impact as well as how to make connections with developers, community organizations and city leaders to generate the best possible outcomes,” said Michael Pugh, LISC president and CEO.

Power to the Changemakers: LISC’s Tatia Ash on Capacity Building with Respect

As capacity builders, we hope to help strengthen grassroots organizations so they can effectively—and independently—drive progress in their communities. To do that, argues LISC senior program officer Tatia Ash, we must not only guide but also listen deeply, show respect, and share power.
