- The mission of Dwight Hall at Yale is “to foster civic-minded student leaders and to promote service and activism in New Haven and around the world.”
Dwight Hall features over 85 student-run member groups that engage 3,500 students, or 2/3 of Yale’s undergraduates, each year in service and social justice activities. A student Executive Committee is elected by leaders from the member groups and works with a professional staff to support student programs, allocate resources and advance initiatives between the Yale and New Haven communities. Dwight Hall is overseen by a Board of Directors comprised of students, Yale faculty, alumni and community leaders.

Where Do Workers Living on Low Incomes Stand in the Post-Pandemic Economy?
An article in Politico looks at the gains and losses—actual and potential—for lower-wage workers in the current economic climate. Katrin Kark, LISC’s director of workforce innovations, who is quoted in the piece, cautions that increased wages don’t suffice to stabilize finances or create economic mobility across the board. “Higher entry wages alone aren’t enough to close…opportunity gaps,” she says.CDFIs + Impact Investors: New Capital Markets Analysis Highlights Opportunities and Impact
LISC and Enterprise Community Partners have released a joint white paper that catalogs how CDFIs have engaged with the capital markets in recent years. In an accompanying blog, the authors explain why this data is so critical, as economic pressure affects the availability and cost of capital for high-impact community development efforts. Foot Locker Foundation continues its collaboration with LISC to promote youth empowerment through mentoring, career development, and health and wellness activities—all while supporting community-based organizations with diverse leadership. A new $4.5 million commitment will support three annual grant application rounds. Proposals for the first round are due by August 30, 2023.

Welcome to GNH Community where you can post activities and event, start a discussion or share pictures and video with you colleagues in other local nonprofits. It is possible to send event invitations to non-site members or to create a group and invite the members of the Chamber NPC to join that group. Each member can edit their settings to get email notice just about the things they want to hear about. I am open to making the chair of the council a co-administrator. This give you the ability to send messages to all members no matter what their settings and to ban folks if they are using the site inappropriately. Let me know if you have any questions.
