Yale Jazz Ensemble Big Band, Wayne Escoffery, Music Director. Celebrating Slide Hampton and George Coleman, feat. the pioneering music of Slide Hampton’s octet (of which saxophonist George Coleman was a member), with new big-band orchestrations by Michael Mossman, arranged specifically for the YJEBB. Also feat. Hampton’s early works including “Motherless Child,” and his original “Frame for the Blues” and more, originally written for The Maynard Ferguson Orchestra. FREE/no tickets required.
