Three Things Congress Can Do to Help Communities Have a Happy & Healthy New Year

With Affordable Care Act subsidies expiring, new Medicaid eligibility requirements looming and uncertainty about fiscal year 2026 funding for vital health programs continuing, LISC’s Nicole Barcliff examines what Congress can do to help the millions of low-to-middle-income individuals and families that rely on federal resources.

Happy Holidays from LISC

Our 2025 Holiday Card extends a heartfelt thank-you to all the community partners, residents, funders and staff who make our work possible.

Fueling the Future of Houston’s East End: How Local Entrepreneurs Are Preserving Legacy While Driving Growth

In Houston’s East End, historically a lively industrial and entertainment hub, LISC and its partner, East End District, are empowering small businesses to sustain neighborhood identity and ensure that revitalization is guided by residents rather than displacement. Through a partnership with Gran Coramino® Tequila, LISC awarded $10,000 grants to four East End entrepreneurs to help them scale their businesses and stay competitive amid rising development.

Breaking Down Transportation Barriers to Health

LISC’s Health Access Fund, a collaboration with Uber, has helped 46,000 people overcome transportation hurdles to health care and social services since 2022. Now, LISC and Uber are expanding our collaboration with grants to 11 community-focused health organizations across the country.
