Description Interest

The Maternal and Child Health Division of the New Haven Health Department provides bicultural/bilingual community-based outreach and case management support for pregnant and parenting women and their families to successfully access health care and other support services. This includes: insurance application assistance for HUSKY and the hospital Free Care Program. Also assists with family re-unification, advocacy, and medical transportation, referrals for employment, training and housing, substance abuse and mental health referrals for treatment. The Division also manages the CIRTS Infant Immunization Program and the Nurturing Families Network, an intensive home visiting program for first time mothers and fathers to strengthen family relationships and conducts weekly family friendly parenting groups that provide child- care and dinner and a prenatal group for pregnant teens.
