HealthCare Costs ALERT - Planned 12.5% Rate Increase In 2015!

HEALTH CARE COSTS ALERT– PLANNED 12.5% RATE INCREASE IN 2015!

DO YOU, FAMILY OR LOVED ONES HAVE ANTHEM HEALTH INSURANCE?

OPPOSE THIS PLANNED 12.5 PERCENT RATE INCREASE BY ANTHEM

Anthem has plans to raise health insurance premiums by an average of 12.5% in 2015. That is what they recently proposed to the Department of Insurance.

OneWorld Supports Healthcare Advocate Victoria Veltri in her objection to the request. On behalf of the State’s Anthem customers, she requested a public hearing and it has now been scheduled:

Anthem Rate Hike Hearing
Friday, June 27th at 9am
Department of Insurance, Room 701
153 Market Street, Hartford

Do you have Anthem health insurance, bought on your own or through Access Health CT, the State’s health insurance marketplace?  If so,
• Are you willing to testify on June 27th?
• Are you willing to share your story about how a rate increase of 12.5% will impact you?

Can you show up on June 27th to stand up for consumers?

LET YOUR VOICE BE HEARD. BE AN ADVOCATE FOR AFFORDABLE HEALTH CARE

Please let us know, and RSVP to: info@universalhealthct.org

For more information on the proposed rate hike and hearing, go to our recent blog or this CT Mirror story.

Laying the Cash Tracks for Community Impact

LISC CFO Christina Travers is among the impact investing leaders who contributed commentaries to a new book, The Social Justice Investor, and joined a panel discussion at today’s book launch. In her essay, “Laying the Cash Tracks,” (reprinted here) she explains the evolution of LISC’s capital markets experience—noting how discouraging Wall Street conversations eventually led to transformative, community-focused investments.

Sharing the Story of Social Justice Investing

With the launch of the new book, The Social Justice Investor, LISC’s Christina Travers reflects on the ways that CDFIs have tapped the capital markets to deepen their impact—working to upend lingering misconceptions among some investors. "Whether we are financing affordable housing, small businesses, health, safety, climate resilience, racial equity or jobs, we see financial performance and local impact as part of the same whole."

EPA Awards GRID Alternatives Solar for All Grant

LISC partner GRID Alternatives has been awarded a $249,800,000 Solar for All grant from the EPA to advance renewable and clean energy sources for affordable housing communities across the country. “The grant is an incredible boon to the movement to decarbonize homes and lower energy costs that burden millions of everyday Americans,” said Michael T. Pugh, president and CEO of LISC.
