Community, Nonprofits and Businesses sharing Information
For this Black History Month CPTV is presenting a retrospective of the phenomenal mini series ROOTS. The series was based on the book by Alex Haley covering a 100 -year history of his family in America.
The CPTV event is using ROOTS as a backdrop to tell a larger story about the lives of African-Americans in America today. The lead role in ROOTS was played by Levar Burton, a young actor with no movies or even live theatrical experience. His performance was riveting.
We at OneWorld Progressive Institute, Inc think that today in 2013, American parents and teachers should still use ROOTS as a teaching tool. We still have a long way to go.
