Event Description

Join Carlos Ghosn, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of the Renault-Nissan Alliance in a conversation on what it takes to lead a global automobile company in the face of increasing competition and the pursuit of sustainability.

Lunch will be provided.

Come and also test drive a new Nissan LEAF from 10:00 to 11:30 a.m. and experience zero-emissions mobility.

Carlos Ghosn is the chairman and chief executive officer of Renault S.A. and Nissan Motor Co., Ltd., two global automotive companies with a combined work force of more than 350,000 employees and global sales of 7.2 million units in 2010. He serves as chairman of the Renault-Nissan Alliance Board, which steers the Alliance’s medium- and long-term strategy, including the current objective for the Alliance to become the leader of zero-emission mobility.

Among many international accolades, Mr. Ghosn was listed first among the 2001 “25 Most Influential Global Business Executives” by TIME and CNN, was ranked among the “World’s Most Respected Leaders” by Financial Times magazine in 2003 and 2004, received a 2005 International Academy of Management Award, was named the CNBC European “Business Leader of the Year 2006” and was inducted into the Japan and U.S. Automotive Halls of Fame. He received the INSEAD 2008 Transcultural Leadership Award and the 2009 Benjamin Franklin Award from the French-American Foundation. He was received into the Legion D’Honneur in France, accepted a Medal of Blue Ribbon from the Emperor of Japan, received the Ordem de Rio Branco from Brazil and was named a Knight Commander of the British Empire. In November 2010, Forbes.com listed Carlos Ghosn as one of the "Seven Most Powerful South Americans".

Mr. Ghosn co-stars in the newly released Revenge of the Electric Car that looks at the global resurgence of the electric car. He will speak about the development of zero emissions mobility - from the 100%-electric cars to the infrastructure needed to increase public acceptance of electric vehicles.

Learn about Nissan’s $5 billion investment in the first mainstream electric car, and come and test drive the LEAF.

This event is organized in collaboration with the Business and the Environment Club, Yale Office of Sustainability, Yale Center for Environmental Law & Policy, and the Yale Center for Business and the Environment through the generous support of the GE Foundation.
