Event Description

Celebrate the Holiday Season


COME JOIN THE FESTIVITIES with Mayor Harp on the New Haven Green Thursday, December 4 at the city's annual Tree Lighting. The  family event kicks off the New Haven holiday season. This free celebration hosted by WTNH/My TV9's Gil Simmons and Ronald McDonald features live performances and horse drawn carriage rides. Children can visit with Santa, hop on the carousel or Alpine Safari (mechanical animals),  visit the New Haven Free Public Library Bookmobile and enjoy holiday crafts. While downtown visit some of the city's award winning restaurants or grab a meal onsite: Lunchbox 23, The Cheese Truck, Jacks Concessions, Buns on the Run, and for that sweet tooth The Cannoli Truck and Elm City Kettle Corn. 

The New Haven Tree Lighting Celebration is presented by the Department of Arts, Culture & Tourism and Department of Parks, Recreation and Trees. Sponsored by Peoples United Bank. Santa's House sponsored by Yale New Haven Children's Hospital.

Thankfully, the Etchechoury brothers discovered Verizon Small Business Digital Ready, a free learning platform offering courses and one-on-one consulting in English and Spanish. Watch their story!
