Dialogue to Create Safer & Healthier Neighborhoods
In 2010/2011, Community Mediation helped to organize and facilitated a series of dialogues in various neighborhoods to create connections between residents and the police and plan strategies to create safe and healthy neighborhoods. We would like to continue in that thread since the community did not have an opportunity to meet a third time to choose strategies and create action plans. The goal of this two-hour dialogue will be to choose strategies from the list brainstormed by residents and police last year and actually discuss what is needed to implement these strategies and assign responsibilities to those willing to make a change in their neighborhood. Participants will engage in small group discussions that will then be presented to the larger group. All facilitators will have been trained by CM and will be a combination of adult and youth from the New Haven region.
