Community, Nonprofits and Businesses sharing Information

Hi All,

I am wondering if anyone can tell me which donor management database you use? We currently use raisers edge but are interested in getting some info on others.

Many thanks!

We use GiftWorks too. It is a decent program, although much less robust than Raiser'sEdge. There are often very good offers on purchase through TechSoup.

At Junta we use Giftworks from Mission Research.  It seems to be more streamlined and user friendly than Raiser's Edge, which I personally have used in the past.  It has great reporting features for donors and for donation trends, and it is online-based, so it can automatically link you to fundraising webinars and information, which can be helpful.  It is less costly than Raiser's Edge.  I hope this helps.

First place I would check is on TechSoup.org, in addition to greatly discounted softwar for nonprofits they have great articles and discussion boards. Here is a sampling of recent relevant articles:

Maybe you’ve had doubts about your current donor management system, but are reluctant to change. This workbook will walk you through the process of assessing your needs, comparing them to what you have, and determining the benefits — and the costs— of moving.

Data warehousing is certainly not a solution for every organization. It’s not likely to be a great option for tiny organizations or those without any IT support structure. Is a data warehouse right for your organization?

We'll show you what data conversion entails, how to prepare for a data move, and weigh the pros and cons of various data-migration techniques.

Another place I would check is: www.grassroots.org they teamed up with Zowzer and now provide a to provide a free database  software for their clients.

Laying the Cash Tracks for Community Impact

LISC CFO Christina Travers is among the impact investing leaders who contributed commentaries to a new book, The Social Justice Investor, and joined a panel discussion at today’s book launch. In her essay, “Laying the Cash Tracks,” (reprinted here) she explains the evolution of LISC’s capital markets experience—noting how discouraging Wall Street conversations eventually led to transformative, community-focused investments.

Sharing the Story of Social Justice Investing

With the launch of the new book, The Social Justice Investor, LISC’s Christina Travers reflects on the ways that CDFIs have tapped the capital markets to deepen their impact—working to upend lingering misconceptions among some investors. "Whether we are financing affordable housing, small businesses, health, safety, climate resilience, racial equity or jobs, we see financial performance and local impact as part of the same whole."

EPA Awards GRID Alternatives Solar for All Grant

LISC partner GRID Alternatives has been awarded a $249,800,000 Solar for All grant from the EPA to advance renewable and clean energy sources for affordable housing communities across the country. “The grant is an incredible boon to the movement to decarbonize homes and lower energy costs that burden millions of everyday Americans,” said Michael T. Pugh, president and CEO of LISC.
