- Incorporated on May 20, 1974, the Agency on Aging of South Central Connecticut, Inc. (AASCC), was the first established agency on aging in the state of Connecticut. It now collaborates with four other regional agencies on aging to serve the needs of older adults and individuals with disabilities throughout the state. AASCC's service area includes Ansonia, Bethany, Branford, Derby, East Haven, Guilford, Hamden, Madison, Meriden, Milford, New Haven, North Haven, North Branford, Orange, Oxford, Seymour, Shelton, Wallingford, West Haven, and Woodbridge.
In 1996, AASCC was awarded the south central region contract for the Connecticut Home Care Program Elders (CHCPE) through a competitive bid process. The provision of CHCPE services expanded the AASCC's service area to include Centerbrook, Chester, Clinton, Cromwell, Deep River, Durham, East Haddam, East Hampton, Essex, Haddam, Higganum, Ivoryton, Killingworth, Lyme, Middlefield, Middletown, Moodus, Northford, Old Lyme, Old Saybrook, Portland, Rockfall, and Westbrook.
The AASCC's mission is to empower adults to remain as independent and engaged as possible within their communities through advocacy, information, and services.

The residents of two Washington State mobile home communities recently succeeded in purchasing their parks with help from ROC USA and over $2 million in financing from Rural LISC. As a result, they have been able to stabilize their housing costs, upgrade their communities and remain in the places they love.
