CEDF was created in 1994 to revitalize Connecticut’s distressed neighborhoods by providing greater access to capital, technical assistance to small businesses and support for community economic development. Since then CEDF has provided millions of dollars in loans to small businesses, created and retained hundreds of jobs for the state’s residents, and funded numerous community planning efforts. Joining forces with the state, leading lenders and representatives from low and moderate income communities, CEDF is bringing help for Connecticut’s small businesses and neighborhoods.

Your posts are immediately viewable by over 800 members. We send notices of your event to 5000+ people via Facebook, Google+, Linkedin, Twitter and Instagram; search for #GNHCommunity to find these post. Share your work and your thoughts with people who signed up to get more information about the work of Greater New Haven nonprofits by using our blog page this way. Post a headline and teaser paragraph with a link back to your blog. Once a week we feature the latest post on the above mentioned social media. Why not add your information to the mix? Videos are increasingly becoming the medium of choice for nonprofits.Once a week we feature a video at the top of the homepage on GNH Community. Your video need not be professionally done to effectively communicate your message. Check out the videos that have already been posted for ideas and inspiration, create a video, post it on You Tube or Vimeo and share it through a link on the video page. Every Tuesday we feature a video and send a notice encouraging our social media network check out the video pick of the week. An article in Fortune highlights a $200 million investment from JPMorgan Chase to support small business and local community development funds. The funding has helped LISC Detroit, the Entrepreneurs of Color Fund (EOCF) and the Detroit Housing Fund create economic opportunities for thousands of Detroit residents. LISC senior vice president Tahirih Ziegler is quoted on the imperative of investing in affordable housing to protect against displacement in Detroit’s vulnerable communities.
Since its founding in 2004, the New Markets Support Company has managed LISC's federal New Markets Tax Credit (NMTC) allocation—currently the largest in the country at $1.2 billion. Over the years, the affiliate has expanded and diversified its offerings to mission-driven investors, and now has a new name to reflect that growth and impact.
