- Mary Wade is a not for profit organization providing care and services to seniors in the greater New Haven Community. We are also very active in the Fair Haven Community. Our interest include news and information concerning the needs of and services for the senior population, which includes laws and regulations impacting seniors and the delivery of care. As a good neighbor, we are very interested in economic development that will help to sustain a vibrant Fair Haven Community.

Dangerous Bill in Congress must be Stopped

The Issue:
Congress is in the finals stages of passing major tax legislation, H.R. 1, that has serious negative implications for older adults and aging services providers. We are opposed to its passage. We urge Congress to defeat this legislation and find better solutions for older Americans.

Where Do Workers Living on Low Incomes Stand in the Post-Pandemic Economy?
An article in Politico looks at the gains and losses—actual and potential—for lower-wage workers in the current economic climate. Katrin Kark, LISC’s director of workforce innovations, who is quoted in the piece, cautions that increased wages don’t suffice to stabilize finances or create economic mobility across the board. “Higher entry wages alone aren’t enough to close…opportunity gaps,” she says.CDFIs + Impact Investors: New Capital Markets Analysis Highlights Opportunities and Impact
LISC and Enterprise Community Partners have released a joint white paper that catalogs how CDFIs have engaged with the capital markets in recent years.
