Tom Andersen will present “Exploration, Discovery, Mutiny and Money: Captain Adriaen Block and the 400th Anniversary of His Journeys to Long Island Sound.” Tom Andersen is the author of This Fine Piece of Water: An Environmental History of Long Island Sound (Yale University Press). He writes frequently about Long Island Sound issues and has given more than 50 talks about the Sound in New York and Connecticut in recent years. Rich with details and anecdotes, his talk will tell the story of those years of discovery, the conflicts they started, and the changes they brought to the Sound region.
Admission is free, but donations are welcome.
