CT Folk presents its annual Folk Festival & Green Expo on Saturday, September 8th, from 11am to 10pm, in New Haven’s Edgerton Park. In addition to a full line-up of wonderful music, the event includes a Green Expo with over 50 handmade artisans, local organizations and exhibitors showcasing innovative ideas/products for sustainable lifestyles, as well as food trucks, a beer and wine garden, children’s activities and "green" workshops.
Headlining this year is singer-songwriter Martin Sexton with Bridgeport natives, The Alternate Routes as the supporting act. Upstate, Jesse Terry Trio, Goodnight Blue Moon, Open Book and Plywood Cowboy are also featured. Professors of Bluegrass and the Grassy Hill Songwriting Competition finalists Michael Lavreanno, Mike P. Ryan, Carolann Solebello, Susan Cattaneo and Belle of the Fall will kick off the day.
For all families, the Green Kids Village offers hands-on workshops including interactive drumming with Infinite Roots, hula hooping with BringtheHoopla and children’s yoga with Full of Joy Yoga, as well as crafts with Creative Arts Workshop, New Haven’s Artist & Craftsman Supply, EcoWorks, and an Acoustic Corner with favorite local musicians, Liz McNicholl, Benny Mikula, Dan Carlucci and environmental magician, Cyril the Sorceror.
With the festival and expo's mix of arts, cuisine, education and culture, there is bound to be something for everyone. While the festival/expo is free, a $10 donation is suggested to continue CT Folk's mission and efforts. For more information, please visit www.CTFolk.org.
