Gain Business Insight and Meet the New Players in the Market: The Big Connect is one of the state’s premier business-to-business events.

The Expo is produced and managed by the Greater New Haven Chamber of Commerce staff, and a group of dedicated volunteers from the business community.

The Big Connect features 4-days of educational seminars that focus on Navigating the Future of Business NOW with over 20 exhibitors. Top attractions include the 4th annual Nonprofit Stars Align Awards & Graduate School Grant Presentations, various speaker sessions and virtual networking opportunities.

Year after year, The Big Connect has attracted thousands of business professionals, leading executives, and key decision-makers in the business world.
This year’s theme is: Navigating the Future of Business NOW! We’ll focus on topics and strategies that matter to businesses who are navigating the future of their business NOW, while coping with the change, disruption, innovation, and the impacts of our shared reality.
The event takes place from Monday Nov 16, 2020 to Thursday Nov 19, 2020, 8:30am - 1:00pm each day. There is also a daily networking period available from 8:00am to 8:30am.

Laying the Cash Tracks for Community Impact

LISC CFO Christina Travers is among the impact investing leaders who contributed commentaries to a new book, The Social Justice Investor, and joined a panel discussion at today’s book launch. In her essay, “Laying the Cash Tracks,” (reprinted here) she explains the evolution of LISC’s capital markets experience—noting how discouraging Wall Street conversations eventually led to transformative, community-focused investments.

With the launch of the new book, The Social Justice Investor, LISC’s Christina Travers reflects on the ways that CDFIs have tapped the capital markets to deepen their impact—working to upend lingering misconceptions among some investors. "Whether we are financing affordable housing, small businesses, health, safety, climate resilience, racial equity or jobs, we see financial performance and local impact as part of the same whole."

EPA Awards GRID Alternatives Solar for All Grant

LISC partner GRID Alternatives has been awarded a $249,800,000 Solar for All grant from the EPA to advance renewable and clean energy sources for affordable housing communities across the country. “The grant is an incredible boon to the movement to decarbonize homes and lower energy costs that burden millions of everyday Americans,” said Michael T. Pugh, president and CEO of LISC.
